Topsy Farms is a large sheep farm on Amherst Island in Lake Ontario near Kingston, Ontario.

We are a cooperative family farm with 5 shareholders, and 3 generations contributing. From our flock of 1100 mature ewes and yearlings, we had over 1400 lambs in 2011, all born in May and early June. The moms gave birth on the greening pastures, tree-shaded, with Lake Ontario on the horizon.

The breeding flock is protected by a 5.5′ coyote resistant fence and 8 large white guard dogs. We also have one Border Collie to help herd the sheep.

Our April shearing yields several thousand pounds of raw wool, which is shipped to MacAusland’s Woollen Mills, Prince Edward Island, to be washed and gently processed, then returned to us in yarn and wool products.
