What to Expect:
Give up cell phones and cameras. Ceremony to begin the day of silence. A 6 km walk in the sun-dapled, mixed forest, adjacent to farm fields, to experience the quiet of the forest as a means to enhance the quiet within yourself. There will be a zen-like quality to this experience as you observe the vitality and teeming variety of woodland life in this mature forest. Feel yourself Connect to the Land.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a token of their past that they’d like to lay to rest during a break in the walk near the old Sugar Shack.
A simple lunch will be served on the westernmost shoreline of the Island, “the bluffs”, facing Prince Edward county, preceded by a cleansing ceremony. Silence and the opportunity for introspection and letting go will be maintained.
Return will be a shorter walk along the shoreline to the farm.
A ceremony to release the silence, and debriefing will complete the experience. Visitors are encouraged to bring journals for a quiet time to record their experience.
