Rewilding is the restoration of an area to its natural, uncultivated state. Topsy Farms is rewilding our fence lines by planting new hedgerows with native species best suited to our conditions.. Hedgerows are an important "ecotone" (edge habitat) for any rural area. Hedgerows create natural corridors, fostering plants and animals that like the option of either dense brush or open space. They protect soil from erosion, and filter groundwater for cleaner runoff. They provide shade, and a wind block, for wild and domestic creatures. We will prepare the soil, erect protective fencing, and create a corridor of habitat while providing the sheep with wind protection. We are starting with 200 meters of hedgerow, so sponsorship is limited.
